- this is how I want you to remember it
- when you take everything away, the only thing left is imperfection
- everything, for a short time
- (first time) Listen
- (every time) Listen
Loosely based on my childhood bedroom, this installation was aimed at exploring the context in which I had my first ineffable experience listening to sound. The installation played with aspects that for me are fundamental to the ineffable: scale, atmosphere and memory. While some details were based on reality, most elements were presented in a more abstract way. The focal point was a record player, the record and the twilight behind the windows. Visitors would sit on the floor and listen to the sound via headphones. Using white pearlescent paint and hidden plinths, the furniture seemed to float, making it referential without being personal.
